Property Committee News

Property held it's December meeting in the sanctuary decorating for Christmas. Thanks very much to Betty & Al Deitz, Shirley & Bill Irwin, Jack & Jackie House, Nancy & Ron Messersmith, and Joe Peck. We did things just a little differently; your comments to any Property person would be appreciated.

At the same time we listened to a presentation from Audio Visual Sales & Service. He demonstrated for almost an hour, showing us speakers, microphones, mixers, and other gadgets for better hearing. Helping here was Rev. Gray, Joan Howe, and other listeners.

I'm writing this in Dec., you'll be reading this in Jan., but in the week of vacation in Feb. , Property will be cleaning the floors. We will begin on the 16th and work until done. We would appreciate any help. At the same time we will have the carpets in the Ed. Building shampooed. Looks like a couple may need to be replaced. Anyone want to give HUPC a carpet in lieu of or in addition to regular pledge? ? ?

We also will be soliciting bids to take down the two fir and one large locust ? in the back. Winter is a good time, but we've got to watch the budget.

Social Witness Committee News

The last denominational collection of 2008 was Christmas Joy, to help pastors and PC (USA) workers who might be in financial difficulty (as Dec.14th bulletin showed). It also helps certain colleges sponsored by PC (USA). Thank you.

The first denominational offering of 2009 will be One Great Hour (OGH) on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009. Lynn Hasselbarth set this date with Session approval before she went to Peru.

Speaking of Lynn...it will be the first day of summer on Dec. 21st. I wonder if it gets warm in summer south of the equator ? ? Do they have swimming pools in Peru?. www.Lynnmission.blogspot.com.

Social Witness is planning to serve a meal at the Schenectady City Mission in the evening of February 17th. We need about 20 people. What a wonderful way to reach out. Matthew 25:35.."I was hungry and you fed me"

Bottles--save all your party returnables and bring them to HUPC. We will return them to various stores and bank the cash. We have been collecting $2-$3 per week all year. We realize about $150 per year, enough to send some youth to camp. Thanks to Jean Z for all her work. Thank you for all your returnables.

$.02-A-Meal--Nov. collection was $202, bringing the 2008 total to $1734. Great! Half of that goes to the Presbyterian Hunger Program, half stays here in Guilderland to help fund the Guilderland Food Pantry.
