As I pen this note from the Worship Committee, I am listening to Christmas music from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It is hard to believe that when you read this, Christmas and Epiphany will both be vibrant memories—and ones that will continue to move us through our journeys of faith. Our sanctuary was adorned with beautiful decorations, flowers, and the sounds of advent music. May blessings abound for all in 2009.

 

Coming in February are two special services—both involving music—and you.

 

On February 8^th, we will celebrate Music Appreciation Sunday – and honor those musicians from the Handbell and Chancel Choirs and those musicians who have enhanced our worship services throughout the year.

 

On February 15^th, you can all raise your voices in praise at our Second Annual HYMN SING SUNDAY. We will be drawing from the hymns everyone so graciously and enthusiastically suggested last year. And this year, our pastor will be able to enjoy the service as well. If you have any favorite hymns you forgot to suggest last year, please write them down and place them in the offering plate or tell one of the Worship Committee.

 

TIME & TALENTS

 

Thanks to all who sent in their “Time and Talent” sheets to the Stewardship Committee. They have forwarded them to us to plan ushers, greeters, and liturgist for 2009. If you did not get a chance to fill out your sheet, please let Katie Waggener know if you want to participate as an usher, greeter or liturgist. It is a great way to get to know the members of our church family.

 

COME JOIN US!

The present members of the Worship Committee are: Shirley Irwin, Dianna Newman, Katharyn Waggener, Rev. Stewart Pattison ex-officio, and Trudy Hutchinson, chairman. This is an awesome committee. We meet on the third Sunday immediately after worship and a cup of coffee. If you want to join us, please feel free! We welcome new ideas and viewpoints. This is an open invitation to anyone in the congregation who wants to help with worship services, plan for special services, and enjoy the fellowship of a wonderful group of people.
