
Hamilton
Union Presbyterian Church was formally established in 1824, and
in 1825 our first minister was hired with a salary of $200 per
year. A congregation was active and there was a church building
even earlier. As early as 1797 an octagon shaped building served
as a church school.
The history of our church largely parallels our town's history.
In 1785, a glass manufacturing plant was established nearby. In

Facts about Hamilton Union
Pastor Pattison is the 33rd pastor to serve at HUPC.
The education building was completed in 1964.
The first new church was built in 1833-1834.
The current church was built in 1887 at a cost of $4,400.
In 1920, HUPC and the Methodist Church joined into a federal
agreement.
Eventually the Methodist Church was discontinued and 72
Methodists joined HUPC in 1944.
